Frequently asked questions

What is an HSA or FSA?

A Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) holds pre-tax money you can spend on qualified health expenses, up to limits set by the IRS. HSAs come with high-deductible health plans and roll over each year. FSAs usually come through your employer and often reset at the end of the plan year.

Who is Truemed?

Truemed partners with health and wellness brands so qualified customers can pay with pre-tax HSA/FSA funds. Its network of licensed providers can issue a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) to customers who qualify. Questions about Truemed? Email support@truemed.com.

How do I qualify to use my HSA/FSA through Truemed?

At checkout, choose Truemed - Pay with HSA/FSA. You'll go to Truemed to answer a short health survey about the condition you're working to treat, manage or prevent. Then pay with your HSA/FSA card or a regular credit or debit card. A licensed provider reviews your answers, and Truemed emails you a Letter of Medical Necessity if you qualify.

What if I don't have my HSA/FSA card?

You can still choose the Truemed option and pay with a regular credit or debit card. If you qualify, Truemed emails your Letter of Medical Necessity with steps to get reimbursed. Send the letter and your Oobend receipt to your HSA/FSA plan administrator.

What if my HSA/FSA doesn't have enough money for the whole order?

Pay with a credit or debit card through Truemed, then ask your plan administrator to reimburse you up to the amount you have available. You can't split one payment between an HSA/FSA card and another card.

Can I use my HSA/FSA on an order I already placed?

No. Truemed only works on new orders placed with the Truemed option at checkout. Ask your HSA/FSA administrator if you have questions about reimbursement.

Can my own doctor write a Letter of Medical Necessity?

Yes. Any medical practitioner can issue a Letter of Medical Necessity to a patient who meets the IRS requirements for using HSA/FSA funds on health and wellness purchases.

Do my FSA funds expire?

Many FSA plans reset at the end of the plan year, often on December 31. Some plans give a grace period or let you carry over a small amount. Check with your plan administrator for your exact deadline.
